150/5000 Minister Souleymane Diarrassouba and Secretary of State Félix Anoblé officially launch the activities of Dream Factory, the Incubator of Abidjan
Dream Factory: this is the name given to the Incubator of Abidjan whose activities have officially been launched, this Thursday, August 9, 2018. The ceremony was held in the presence of several personalities including the Minister of Commerce, the Industry and SME Promotion; the Secretary of State for the Promotion of SMEs, the Ambassador of the Netherlands in Côte d’Ivoire, the Vice-President of the National Assembly and the representative of the Minister for the Promotion of Youth and Development Youth Employment. The members of the Supervisory Board of Agence Côte d’Ivoire PME as well as entrepreneurs from the ecosystem of entrepreneurship and innovation also took part in the meeting.
In his address, the Minister in charge emphasized the importance of the Incubator of Abidjan. “According to statistics, it is recognized that of an average of ten enterprises created without support, at least seven cease to exist no later than the third year of their activities. That is why the commissioning of this Incubator comes as a response to mentor SMEs in the creation phase and allow them to start on solid and sustainable foundations, “he said.
Dream Factory will offer a variety of services to Côte d’Ivoire’s entrepreneurial and innovative ecosystem by offering start-ups and Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) strategic, operational and financial support built on 3 pillars, Mr. Diarrassouba explained. These include “incubation, which consists of running incubation programs on its own or hosting programs with partners; collective intelligence that will allow the organization of training and information meetings focused on the themes of Innovation and especially on the technologies of Industry 4.0; and the service to companies which will result in the domiciliation of companies, the rent of offices, the pooling of services of companies “.
Minister Diarrassouba has invited animators from the entrepreneurial and innovative ecosystem to take an active part in the activities of the Incubator of Abidjan, designed to allow innovative projects to mature and to realize them in a framework proposing conditions of accompaniment to international standards. He then agreed with the choice of the name ” Dream Factory ” proposed by the Director General of the Agency CI SME and which means “factory of transformation or realization of the dreams”.
Entrepreneurship and innovation are rightly considered among the most effective remedies to fight against youth unemployment and poverty, for its part, said in his speech, the Secretary of State in charge of Promotion of SMEs. “Through the official launch of the activities of this incubator, we give our youth a chance to realize their dreams by expressing their ingenuity. In this changing world, we offer our young people the reasons for hope and the means to undertake and flourish, in which the accelerating effect of innovation is a powerful job-creation factor. ” Felix Anoblé.
The participants in the ceremony were able to follow two presentations. The Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Robert Van Den Dool, whose country ranks second in the world ranking of innovation in 2018, after Switzerland, presented the results of the study of the Project ” Orange Corner ” which aims to strengthen the startup ecosystem and build a pipeline for young Ivorian entrepreneurs. This project envisages, while concentrating on the pre-start and start-up phase, to improve the infrastructure (Orange Corners), to help and connect the university institutes as well as the governmental institutes and to stimulate the entrepreneurial mentality. “The establishment of an ‘Orange Corner’, in collaboration with a local service provider, would be a valuable contribution to helping more young Ivorian entrepreneurs turn their business plan into a validated product or service,” said M Van Den Dool
Dream Factory will be a center for innovation, coaching, meetings, support for innovative financing and networking, for its part said in his presentation, the Director General of the Agence CI PME. “The Côte d’Ivoire SME Agency will work to make Abidjan the center of attraction of all the talents of innovative entrepreneurs through the adoption of the best international business practices to build the brand ” Digital Abidjan ” ‘”Added Salimou Bamba.
For 2018, the CI SME Agency plans to incubate thirty companies, he announced. He presented the agenda of the next activities of Dream Factory. The first will be the Digital Vacation Camp planned from August 27 to September 7, 2018. “This is a training program that aims to popularize information and communication technologies for children aged 8 to 15 years.
